my 9 year old black lab developed cataracts. We brought her to live in the Yucatan when she was 4. She learned to body surf in the ocean; something she’d never do in Ottawa. Dissa died 2 months ago from a tick bite. She’d been completely blind for a month before that in spite of having had one of her eyes operated on. Through all of this (including weeks of eye drops 24/7) she remained as she always had: calm, loving and understanding that we were doing everything we could to help. She wasn’t happy being blind but she took comfort in being surrounded by the people and the cats she’d spent her life caring for. At 58, I’m still looking a meaning for the relationships I’ve had and still have with animals. Thanks for this Doug. It helps.
